Listen to our requests and prayers,
We sincerely pray;
We are your sinful servants,
(And) you are the merciful Mawla,
O Ali, you are eternal, you are the Mawla of countless,
You alone have the knowledge of the end of that which has no end …
O Ali you are eternal.
O Mawla! Only you do I know as my spiritual mother and father,
None else do I know;
I place my head in your control.
It will rest where you wish …
O Ali you are eternal.
Perhaps at this juncture it is worth mentioning that we also teach our children the three Daily obligatory prayers (referred to as D’ua).
This is also learnt parrot-fashion through transliteration as the prayer is in Arabic introduced in 1955 by the late Imam and only a few Ismailis world over understand it. At Bait-ul Ilm the children are taught the meaning but since they finish training by the age of 14, majority of them have forgotten by the time they reach adulthood. If they remembered the meaning, surely they would note the contradictions.
